Y2K.-may 5 .- STAR TREK TOS ALTERNATIVE. ------------ Synopsis of the previous tales: Synopsis of Song 1.- Year 2293 -in the spaceship Francine Lorena with Captain Lee Yang Foo as Captain went to Mars from Holoturia,in Alfa of Auriga.From there they carry the ore and also the former manager of the mining fields, Miss Beatrice Dieter Berlin.She arrives to Earth and went to Hawaii in vacations, there she meets Captain James T. Kirk who have a love affair with her and induced her to take a trip to the Constellation of the Bird, Sun Marmalone 43, planet 5.- Good payment...She accepted but then a pirate takes control and send all females to Marmalone 43 as sex slaves. There she manages to be released, and came back to the Solar System in a vessel traveling to Jupiter s Europa. From there to Earth she takes another vessel, who was really a decoy for alien abductions; she gets pregnant from an alien and have a child "Buroi" who will "reign in the dark places"- All without her consent and also without ever knowing it. She was found at a wreck in space, and sent to an Hospital in Earth, where she recovered from his pains. Assistant during training : Engineer Scotty *********************************************************** summary of song 2 : Gunter Gonnt,friend of Mandroid the shrinker,takes Salvia the wow woman in hidden but she escaped; so he run to the hills for a while, but when things cool down, he came back for cash and went to the war in the shoulders of Orion...}there he find a place in the cruiser "Parlons" and fight 3 enemy cruisers, destroying 2; the "Parlons" went down and lived for a while in the wreck; Gunter was XBeamed and disappeared. The remnant crew bombed the nearest enemy Base, destroying everything there.The crew(2 left) were rescued by the "Enterprise". Then the starfleet of the Ghamcunin attacks the earth vessels at 631 System; the "Parlons" and the "Sigmund Freud" were destroyed. A sphere-ship was taken by Kirk s men. It went operational with Scotty s aid.It s send to Earth to be replicated or used as model to make engines never seen before . But the war keeps on, and the Federation Fleet was defeated in Orion by the Ghamcunin; so the tasks of Commander Maora Noemi , Captain Kirk and Captain Sulu on the 631 planetary system (4 planets wined for the Federation) must wait, as a signal from Earth called them to defend the Solar System ! Defeated the Ghamcunin in this heroic way, Mankind replace them in the mining fields of those far-away planets... -------------------------------------- SONG 4 ..- CAST: SHIP: "DEMETER" (OBERTH CLASS). CREW: Captain James Tiberius Kirk; First Officer, Maora Noemi; Second Officer, Robert Young; Scientific Officer, David Keller; Medical officer Marcel Arab; Chief Engineer Jose Rodolfo Lopez Salazar; Transporter Engineer Wilfred Mannfred; Ensign Betty Silvestre SYNOPSIS: Captain Kirk and Maora Noemi went in the "Demeter" to Alderan, where they are going to take aboard Professor Rasmussen ; he has a scientific mission to accomplish, so they went to .........and after some delay, takes the professor and went to Earth II, in Algieba IV in Leo Constellation, but the ship went down in a terrible form at Algieba, so they crash landed at VI and walks until the scout ship "Ford 345"class arrives and takes all aboard, carrying them all to Algieba IV...There the professor Rasmussen unearthed lots of dinosaur fossils, and the government (local) gives him funds to rise the "Museum of Algieba IV". Kirk goes to Mars ,asking for the "Enterprise", as the refitting was taking too long, but the Commander of the Starfleet, Laura Bell, who told him the "Enterprise" was not going to be refitted but disabled...some of its engines were already being used in other ships... Kirk renounced, as Bell offers him no more missions, and finds Releta the working woman at the Casino "Mars Delight"; he was winning a lot of money, and Releta told him to go from there fast, or else the moguls would be taking all his easy-earned money....He did that, and soon he was with Releta at his hotel room , where they spent the night...At the other day, Kirk bought a ticket in a spaceship to Algieba IV, where Maora Noemi is waiting for him... There the professor Rasmussen loose his job at Algieba, but don t worry! He went to sell some bones in the black market and with the money he invited all people to go and find more bones....The end. And now..... SUMMARY OF "SONG 5."- Chapter 1.-The ship arrives to "619" and it s 9 planets in the "Walkiria" with professor Rasmussen in charge, landing in the Aeroblunt city, in the Langress Continent. Sold all fossils to Ritoth Odom.The kidnapped Captain Furder and his crew were disembarked there. They went to "333" in Orion Constellation. Chapter 2.-"333" in Orion Constellation. Explore ,but no fossils in the first site. Chapter 3.-At the surface. Chapter 4.-They slipt in two groups.The group of Alfredonius saw a Espinosaur (15 meters long) who, followed, shows a river swarmed by Espinosaur eating fish! Chapter 5.-Espinosaurs on a lake.They return and keep on digging for fossils, when professor Rassmusen arrives, they gave him the fossils but not a word about the living dinosaurs ... Professor Rasmussen told Kirk they were going to see those fossils at Sand Six, in Gorkon territory. Freezed, except professor Rassmusen...He lie dead on the floor. Kirk went down to the surface of the planet,to sell the fossils on board, to the Museum professor Rasmussen were heading before... Lord Seir, Minister of Education, paid for the fossils.... Chapter 6.-"Earth ,year 2.515".- They arrive to Earth with all the dug earned selling fossils.They vacationed in Santiago,Chile. Chapter 7.-"At home".-They went to beaches and slept well. Chapter 8.-"A client arrives."- He was professor Hules Landro, who want to be carried to Delta Cangrejo s planet. Kirk sets the price, get payed, and summoned a crew.Already in flight ,at Beta Crux sector, the ship has a malfounction;then appears 2 starships .Then they descended into Beta C. Chapter 9.-Beta C:Kirk follows the ships and saw a huge fire in one of the continents. With some of the crew they went down in a shuttle and finds beings organically based on silicium .They fire at two of them, and they explode, killing Robert with a splinter. Chapter 10.-The charred ship.-At the burned site, the alien ship rested. The cadavers resembled big grasshoppers. They went back to the Shuttle, but at it s side was the other big alien starship ! After dark,they saw under the lamps the alien, who has the legs as if in the wrong direction .They take the Shuttle firing the aliens,that respond with MASER guns.Moe was killed this way.They arrive to the "Wilfredo" (new name of the "Walkiria"). Chapter 11.-Delta Cangrejo 1.- Delta Cangrejo 1...professor Hules researching plants and animals.Arab finds a gold mine ,but Hules didn not lend him Electromen to take samples.So Kirk went and take samples ,and with Arab ,Noemi and Electromen sold samples ,get money to rise a Mining Company and they succeeded. Chapter 13.-"The proof Hules marooned.."- Professor Hules and the rest saw spaceships in the sky,followed them, takes a Shuttle.Kirk follows him them and when nearing the Shuttle, a Starship from the Federation appeared, as Hules was calling for help since he sets foot on the Shuttle...The Captain O Ryan summoned both Captains and after hearing their sayings ,release Kirk ,gaves back the Shuttle to the Mining Co. and then he bought a spaceship to travel far (again) ,leaving Maora Noemi and his 2 sons at the Earth.End. ------------------------ SONG FIVE. Captain James Tiberius Kirk; First Officer, Maora Noemi; Second Officer, Robert Young; Scientific Officer, David Keller; Medical officer Marcel Arab; Chief Engineer Jose Lopez; Transporter Engineer Wilfred Mannfred; Ensign Betty Silvestre.Professor Rassmusen. CHAPTER 1.- "619". The ship arrives to 619 and its nine planets four months later, with everyone aboard the "Walkiria" turned in a archeologist, with the four -hours- a day lessons professor Rasmussen gave them.... At the third planet, "Latimore", they went directly to the surface, as the rocket ship could not show itself at the Station in orbit, as the captain was tied in a room, together with the rest of the former crew of the "Walkiria". They came to "Areoblunt", one of the south cities in the Langress continent. The ship was docked at a private star port, and then professor was calling his contact there....He was told to wait at the starship. That same night, a couple of men came there in a autoflight, and presented themselves as Ritoth Odom and Clegg Mckissick. Seated on the main cabin, the professor begin to show some of the dinosaur fossils to the couple of buyers, who were very excited to see those precious remnants of old. The price was set, and then Ritoth Odom said:"- We are very satisfied you could bring us this fossils, Mr. Rasmussen. Now, we are going to bring you the money and a truck will carry all this fossils to our Museum. " So they called by the phone one of the Museum s vehicles, and they paid , transferring the credits to the professor s account. After the sound of the crates going down and the truck engine noises, professor Rasmussen said:- WE have our money, now. " -Pardon me, Professor, but until when are you going to retain the former crew of this ship?"- Kirk asked. -Guess now we can release them. Please send for them."- Professor Rasmussen told him. Soon they were in front of him; they looked pale and sick. -I beg of you to pardon for me, as I take you and your ship for our use. You can go now." Captain Furder said: - And what about the "Walkiria ? It s my ship. " - I know. But how could I escape from here without it ? I will pay you something for it."- Professor Rasmussen said. He transfer to the Captain s account a million credits, and he saw them go, walking by the spaceport to the buildings at the rim of the field. -They will tell the police we are burglars."- Kirk said. -Now we go! Captain Kirk, please take us out of here."- Professor Rasmussen told the ex-captain of the "Enterprise". The "Walkiria " went out of the planet and submerged itself in the void of space..... -Where to?"- Kirk asked . -"333.....in Orion Constellation. We will have the magnific star Rigel in sight."- Professor Rassmusen told the captain. -How much time traveling this time, professor? We have not too much meals onboard."- Alfredonius told him. -Yes, I know. But we are going to a nice planet, first. We are going to sleep... at least, some of us. There is no need to be three months in deep space fully awoke."- Professor Rasmussen told them. First the willing to be sleeping went to the cryogenic capsules, and then the whole ship was a graveyard flying through the deep space..... CHAPTER 2.- "333, ORION CONSTELLATION." The captain Kirk looked around him- all was in yellow color, with patches of blue- as the sun was almost set. -No signs of life, captain.- Noemi said, looking at his scan. -Could be an error? From the ship, this site was steaming with life." Soon they arrived to the salt lake, a great extension of water (2.3 kilometers wide, and more than seven long, the river 28 crossing it...Kirk said:-" Then it s settled." They returned to the ship; the worms did traveled under the cold sand, leaving it only when arriving to the pond. There they mated and fighted , to return again to the channeled subsoil -We find life."- Maora said at the main deck. -People or animals?"- Wilfred Manfred asked. -Big worms, black and white; we can depart from here now !".- Kirk told Maora , who ignited the propellants and the scout ship soared high into the sky. The sight was superb, but they were just able to look at it by the TV screens... .. The "Walkiria " was in full sight, and soon they were locking the scout ship unto it; they traversed the tunnel and were inside the big ship. -There were not much money to buy a better scout ship. The gifted ones are expensive."- Professor Rasmussen said, looking how they were entering his Deck.... -Guess the virtue of a Commander it s to hide information and for to deliver it in the precise moment, as to make a monkey out of us !"- Alfredonius said. The life aboard was a bore, and the professor knew it, so he said:"- We are searching for fossils here; we must find them." -We could search near the river."- Alfredonius said. -"Or in the mountains."- Moe suggested. -"Yes; we must go once and again. But better still, in two different parties! One, guided by me, and the other, guided by you, Alfredonius . Are you ready?" -Ready in any minute I am, Professor ! "- Alfredonius said, eager to go down. -Well, and then Captain Kirk will remind here in orbit; the scout ship could be drive by first officer, and not to return here until we are ready down there. "- Professor Rasmussen told the crew. Maora was not delighted to be without Kirk, and so she said, but Rasmussen said:"- Young lady, love it s a beautiful thing, but we are without money here, and we need those fossils in earnest ! A little patience, continence, it s required here, Madame ! " So she subsided, and guided the scout ship to the surface, once more. Kirk was at the cockpit, looking down how his lover went from his side.....A needed thing, and he could wait for those love hours she could gave.......... CHAPTER 3. AT THE SURFACE. So Alfredonius and Moe went to the mountains, and Professor Rasmussen down river...With Alfredonius were Moe, Jose Lopez and Marcel Arab, and with professor Rasmussen were Wilfred Manfred ,and Betty Silvestre. Maora Noemi was also with professor Rasmussen, but she didn t help in the explorations, as she remind at the scout ship, and in the nights the rest arrives there to eat and sleep. CHAPTER 4 WITH ALFREDONIUS. Moe was a big help, as she has a "nose" to "smell" fossils; they climbed several mountains to not avail, and then they arrive to a flat land 490 meters up the surrounding lands. There a series of stone tools were found. -"This must be tools from man s antecesor ! Queer thing, as this planet has no cities !"- Moe said, handling one tool, a chipped stone in form of a hand -axe. -"Perhaps they are still in the woods!" - Jose Lopez said, handing a hand-knife. -"We better try to dig this place! Could be any kind of surprises here !"- Marcel Arab said, looking very interested. He sensed a mountain of credits under the soil....... They began digging, and they found several fossils, but very little pieces in all, so Alfredonius said:"- This pieces are a good find, but we will be ensembling ( putting together) pieces the rest of our lives !"- -No good deal, then!"- Arab said, looking at the fossils . -"But there is the computation system! They numbered them, and then the machine does the whole work!"- Jose Lopez said, taking one chip. Alfredonius called the Professor by the phone at the next day, telling him all about his finding. Rasmussen was very excited, and said:"- Oh, boy! You already did a find ! I had not finded anything yet ! What about ...to change our positions? I am more careful and have lots of patience....." -All right for me, professor ! Send the lady with the ship."- Alfredonius said, moving his head sideways....... -What did he tells you?"- Jose asked. -"He will swap places with us. "- Alfredonius said, looking the bag with the findings. -"Why? Are you sure you want to change places with him? "- Jose Lopez asked, not liking the lameness that Alfredonius was showing...... -No matter for me! But if you want to stay here, I could talk with the professor!"- He replied. -No, it s the same for me. "- Jose said, walking a little distance. The lad was not satisfied..... After four hours, the machine arrives and the professor and aids disembarked. Alfredonius shows him everything, and Rasmussen said:"- Well, boys, you can climb at the scout ship, and lady Maora will take you to the river. " They arrived there in the afternoon, and they sensed the weather was good, and the trees surrounding the mountain had fruits. They eat some of them, and they tastes fine. That night they slept under the tents , and in the morning they eat some beverages from the ship, and Alfredonius said:"- It s nice to be here!"- -This planet is full of animals. Where could be the hominids?"- Jose ask. -" Perhaps they are all dead."- Moe replied. -About death, there is a question for you, Jose. Back in Earth I heard rumors of your suicide."- Alfredonius said. Jose Lopez look at him with steady eyes, saying:"- But I am here, Sir...How could you ask me such a thing?" Alfredonius looked at the horizon, and replied:"- Because this world is not what I thought it was in the past. There are things that must be said now that my knowledge of reality has deepened." -As you wish, Sir. But I don t know what are you talking to me."-Jose said, looking troubled. -Never mind. But I met one like you in Earth, and he suicide himself, jumping from a balcony in one of my houses.Third floor, and some 21 meters high; when going down, his body hits an iron signal and then ,turning in the air for another 15 meters, he hits the cemented sidewalk of San Pablo street. He was a good aid for me, and an honest man. Now he is really dead, as we are alone in space and time. We had been always like that, and religion was lying to us from the very beginning, saying we were a special product of a God almighty, and there was nobody ! "- Alfredonius said. -It is a pity you think that way!"- Moe expressed. -It is a pity they had been lying to us for 100.000 years ! "- Alfredonius said, making a movement with his hand closed. Maora was there hearing it , and thinking it was good to be out of controversial themes, she said:"- I am leaving here, Sir. I will go to professor Rasmussen abiding place." -Do as you please; I cannot command you"- Alfredonius said. - Do you want me to stay?"- She asked, looking pale. -I don t want you to take the scout ship away. That s what I want. If we find some fossils here, we could storage it on the ship. "- Alfredonius said. -I will ask professor Rasmussen, as he is the chief in command here."- She said, walking to the ship. -This woman has spirit."- Moe said, laughing. But soon the ship was gone, without a word from her to Alfredonius, that was so enraged with it, that went digging at the nearest ravine . Soon a big bone was found, and Moe said:"- Guess it s another big dinosaur that is lying here. Let us dig." They all begin helping, and soon another three more bones were unearthed.... -We are going to be very rich!"- Arab said, smiling. -Yeap."- Alfredonius said, smiling . In the night, under the tent, (As they just rise one only tent using the three they originally have) they talk about dinosaurs and people. -The dinosaurs were a beautiful expression of the land when it was young. Now we have in our Earth that pitiful small and skinny animal without real teeth, Man."- Alfredonius said. -You are kidding! Man is the ultimate expression Nature puts in the Earth!"- Moe told him. -But you must compare: tons of muscles, big teeth, and the bellowing of a real animal, compared with a man in a bike listening a personal radio! Don t make me laugh! Man it s nothing in comparison to a big 50 meters dinosaur!" -Alfredonius said. Arab was laughing, and he told :"- Well, you have a point there. If we look at the life-span of the dinosaurs, we ,men, are nothing yet. But wait! Perhaps we could endure more than them!" -No way! We are the last option of nature, that it s old in the planet Earth, so he did what he can with the tiny elements at his disposal! We are tiny, fragile, and we will die soon. Mark my words: we as a species, we are all doomed to be extinct in a dozen thousands years in the future. No million years for us."- Alfredonius said, with conviction. He, that was unearthing big bones since thirty years, was the most convinced one that man was just a little hiatus in the History of the animals. They went to sleep at their cots, and soon the four of them were fully asleep. At dawn, Alfredonius went out to see the sun rise. Moe follows suit, and he told him:" We are here in the middle of nowhere."- -"Better here than in Santiago. We have clear skies, pure air, and the water is fine. We have fruits..." They went to the wood, to eat fruits, and when coming back to the tent, they saw a big animal lurking around -"A dinosaur!"- Moe said, looking pale. -"Ahoy! You at the tent! A dinosaur it s coming your way!"- Alfredonius yelled, but to not avail, as Jose and Arab was a pair who slept the best part of the morning, so they didn t wake up! -What kind of a dinosaur it s that, Don Alfredonius?"- Moe asked,from behind a tree . -"Guess it s a Espinosaurio. "- Alfredonius was amazed.. -"And it s a meat eater?" -"A fish eater.Order Saurisquios, Suborder Teropods, Infraorden Tetanuros, Family Espinosauridos...fifteen meters long, four tons in weight."- Alfredonius murmured... The Espinosaurio walks by the side of the tent, and went by the side of the mountain, in a steady pace. -Let us follow it !"- Alfredonius said.-"He must be going to some river!" Moe went to the tent at a trot, to told the rest to follow, but Arab said:"- I am not going to follow a dinosaur this morning ! Are you nuts?" -Very well,then . Wait for us!"- Alfredonius yelled at him, and they began to run after the big dinosaur, who was already very far, as his stride was amazingly long. Soon they saw a creek, but the Saurisquio didn t stops there; Alfredonius said: -He is not stopping here , folks! Must be going to some bigger creek!" They were running after the Espinosaur, and just the same the big animal leaves them behind, so they lost track of him. -No sign of a river."- Jose Lopez said, panting heavily. Alfredonius lie on the turf, saying:- Oh, my physical state it s in bad shape! We better return to the camp. After a while."- So they rested there. In one side of them, the mountain ridges; at the other, the mighty forest. And no one in sight... They arrived some two hours elapsed to the camp; Arab was looking at them at the top of a big stone, and he yelled:"- Did you find the beast?" -No ; he was too fast for us!"- Jose replied. Later they heat water and they all take tea and biscuits; soon the sun was high and the weather warmer. -It s like the south of Chile, here.!"- Moe said. -The land where they make new laws every day! "- Alfredonius said, with anger. -Why did you say that?"- Arab questioned. -Because, when I was there, every day a new law was enforced, making life miserable. Forbidding everything ! You almost cannot turn your head, because a cop makes you a citation! In the past..." -In the past there were not so many laws."- Moe said, patting his shoulder.He knew the man; he was embittered with that society..-"But you are here now, Don Alfredonius! Searching for fossils, remember?" -And we can forget about fossils ! We have living dinosaurs now!"- Alfredonius said, laughing. -"We should call Professor Rasmussen. "- Arab said, searching for the radio. -"Yeah ! And he will send us again to the first site! So he can have all the credit for himself!"- Alfredonius said, smashing the apparatus against a rock. They all looked miserable, except Alfredonius. -How we are going to call the ship, now? We are stuck here !"- Arab said. -They will came here just the same!"- Alfredonius said. -"But when?"- Arab asked, blushing with anger. -I am not care about when. I am going after the Espinosaurio myself!"- Alfredonius said, taking his bag and replenishing it with clothes and dried meals. -I will go with you.- Jose told him, packing his pertenences. They all do the same, except Arab, who said:"- I came here to take all the fossils I can get! So you can go, and I will be working until your return.The fossils can be sold in any world, but I doubt an entire dinosaur could be smuggled to some of those worlds...specially in a ship not prepared as the "Walkiria"- -You had make your point ; so be it. Bye."- Alfredonius said, and departed, followed by the other pair of humans...... At night, they rested atop some trees, and they slept but a little, as the sounds down below were not pleasant...bellowing and roars all the time... CHAPTER 5 ESPINOSAURIDS. They walked by three more days, and they find a large lake, where the borders were mud . The Espinosaurids were by the thousands there, eating the many fish species available there; the trees of the woods enters the waters, and the fishes could eat and procreate in those warm waters. -There is more than we could count!"- Alfredonius said. -Meat for the Tyrannosaur!"- Moe murmured. The crests of the animals seems a forest of palms moving by the wind, but this palm-branches were animal ones ! -Meat for a thousand hungry worlds! Think : we could ship this meat to a hundred planets!"- Arab said, with his Arab mind.... Jose was amazed to see those beautiful beasts fishing and digging, mating... It was a nice view, and there were several hundred growing dinosaurs, replicas of their fathers, trying to walk by the mud that surrounds the lake... -There are fruits for us, too!"- Moe said, taking a golden fruit from a branch. The air was hot and stingy, with a rotten quality that makes them alert.Some of the Espinosaurids were lurking near them, and their big eyes were like balls of glass shining in the sun. Alfredonius saw a a column of shitbeing expelled by a spionosaur;it was surrounded by a mist ;it was the internal heat of that mountain of flesh,who warmed their detritus... Swarms of flies, big as a rat, begin to suck that cake...Moe told them:"-This flies are horrible! We better don t get close to the mud!" -"Of course not."- Jose replied urgently... They walk into the forest, eating fruits; some butterflies were as large as one meter long, and their colors were brilliant. The night came, and they saw how the Espinosaurs come out of the water and the mud, traveling to the woods to spend the night. So they run out of that place, afraid of what a fish-eater could do with a mammal... It was dark when they arrive to the mountains, and they seek shelter among the rocks; there they spend the night, and at dawn they decided to get back to the camp; three day s march, and they arrived there with their shoes broken and they clothes a pure rag... -Hey! You look like a bunch of peddlers!"- Arab said, laughing. He shows them a lot of big bones, and added:-" I was working meanwhile you were making a beggars from yourselves! " They looked at the bones; Moe said they were Spinosaurs reminds, and he was studying them, when a buzz was heard. -The ship!"- Arab said, with utmost content. They saw how the apparatus landed, and a joyfully Professor Rasmussen walks down to them, saying:- Hello, my friends! I see you have a lot of fossils for me!" They didn t told him about the living dinosaurs, afraid to be forced to go there again, and so the professor takes all the bones up the ship, and soon they were soaring up, en-route to the stars....... Kirk said:-"Professor Rasmussen, told me where are you heading!" -Set course to Sand Six." -In Gorkon territory! Why don t you choose another destination, Rasmussen?" -Because those Gorkons wants the fossils! They look this creatures as their own ancestors! They are going to pay me three times the price"-He explained. Kirk looks at him, and said "- Well, it s your funeral. If the Gorkon Fleet find us there,they will kill us all!" Rasmussen smiled, and went to the cargo bay, where he began to work with the fossils, cataloging them in several boxes. Three days elapsed, Kirk called him, and said:"- Professor, we must put all men on board inside the cryogenic chambers. The travel will takes three months." -O.K., Captain! But not me; I have too much work to do. " -Do you realize you are going to be alone for three months?" -Yes; I can endure it. We, the scientific class, can endure that and much more." -Rasmussen said, with pride. Kirk ordered all men on board to went to hyper sleep, and then he himself went to the pod, where he set the indicators to wake him after three months elapsed. So the professor Rasmussen was alone, and he keeps on working better with no interruptions of any kind, but this probes wrong, as he began working like a slave, with little sleep and too many hours of brain work. Soon his errors were mounting, and his bad temper began to command all his emotions. Soon he was sleeping in the middle of his work, and so his meals were scarce. Three months later, Kirk was awake once more, and leaving the pod, saw the rest of the crew leaving their capsules. -Nice sleep."- Alfredonius said, with a terrible headache.He was not accustomed to those long sleeps... -Let s see if we still have a capable ship."- Kirk said, going to the control cabin. There, he revised all the systems, finding them suitable . The big sun was near, and the planet was in front. -Sand Sixth it s one hour distant! Prepare the ship for a landing! We cannot arrive there with normal speed, as there are Gorkon scout ships always surveying the orbits!"- Kirk command Maora Noemi and the rest. Alfredonius went to the cargo bay, and saw Professor Rasmussen lying on the floor. He called Marcel Arab, who scanned the scientific. -He is dead."- Said the doctor, with a sad smile. -But how!"- Alfredonius asked, incredulous. -Who knows? He was an old man, and alone, with nobody to help him in his final hours..."-Arab said, putting a cloth over the dead body. The crew was reunited at the control cabin,where Kirk said:"- We are arriving to Sand Six. There is no way to know where are we supposed to land. " Everyone looked at them, sensing the impending disaster... -Well, let s take a look at those Gorkons! There is a lot of time I don t see one!"- Kirk said, smiling,and soon they were soaring the alien skies, with the prow red -hot by the fast descent. Kirk landed near the biggest city of the planet, and that was not a bad idea, as there were just three cities in all, and none was bigger than a couple of kilometers in diameter... As it was night-time, Kirk said:"- _This is what we are going to do:I will go there with a couple of you, search for the Museum, and wait inside the building for the Director...I am sure we could arrive to some arrangement!" Alfredonius said:"- But this is pure crazy! I don t thing this will works right!" -I don t care what do you think it works right ! I don t came from three parsecs away, just to seat on my pants all night!"- Kirk said, with passion. So he leaves the ship with Maora, David Keller and Jose Lopez, all armed with guns. The streets were a mess; all the cobbles were half loose, and there was no straight line at all. The Gorkons just walked by there, as the vehicles were not used in the Gorkons cities, as they were a signal of weakling races. Kirk and Maora were running hand in hand, and Jose Lopez was following. They were hiding themselves in dark corners, waiting for the scant Gorkons to pass by. They were looking for a big building, but they find it after several hours, being all the houses one-storied in general. The building was made of pure rock, with little windows and one big gate up front. They went inside by a window, who has no glass panes on it. They wait inside, until morning came. At noon a couple of Gorkons appeared and seeing the gate closed, they banged on it quite a while, and then departed growling ominously. In the early afternoon a Gorkon came and opened the gate with a key. Soon he was rummaging inside, using electricity to lighten up the gloomy interior . After some time, a Gorkon came and talk with the Keeper, and seeing the conversation was a long one, Jose told Kirk:-Do you understand something, Captain? -Yes! I studied it after the first encounter with the Gorkons, and I attended also the first sessions of the Peace Talks...those were the terms the Metrons gave to both races: or we make peace or our weapons remind useless ! A powerful race, those Metrons! They told us to wait another couple of thousand years to make a proper contact with them...they find us half -savages! "- Kirk remembered, in ushered voice. Then the visitor leaves the Museum and then Captain Kirk told the Gorkon they were hidden inside, but not to worry, as they were there to make business. The fat Gorkon grunts, and said from his site:"-Come on here and talk to me openly! Why are you hiding?" -Because we are not like yourself! We are humans!" The Gorkon walk around the objects, and saw the three of them. He was a huge monster, at that, and he said, looking at them with those round and faceted eyes:"- You humans ! And what could you offer me?" -Fossils. -Dinosaur fossils."- Kirk said. The Gorkon hissed, and then he went to his table, seating on a stool. He said:"- It s a good offer; but then, how did you came here undetected? Or are you some kind of Ambassadors?" -No Ambassadors! We are smugglers. We sold you lot of fossils, so you must say if you are interested or not !"- Kirk said. The Gorkon banged the table, saying:"- Of course I am interested ! But I am not entitled to buy anything! I am just a keeper..."- The Gorkon said. -But who is the Director, then? Could you talk for us ?"- Kirk asked. -I must see the fossils first! I don t want to be fired from this Museum!"- The Keeper said. So they walked to the ship, and the Gorkon saw the fossils. He was amazed, and he asks ,when leaving, for a sample. -O.K., you can keep it as a sign of friendship! But came here with the money, not with militia ! We will be ready to take -off at the first sign of treason!"- Kirk said. -We are no weaklings here ! WE talk straight, always! I will try to make a deal with you, but the final word it s not mine. Also, I must know the price!"- The saurid said. Kirk asked for forty million credits, and the Gorkon said he will say so. And departed. -What do you talk with him?"- Maora asked. Kirk told them all what was said, and then added:"- He will came here for a yes or a no. So we must wait. And, Jose Lopez: you must keep the engine running at all times ! I don t trust this race!" -All right, Captain!"- Jose replied, going down to the engines right away.... The day came to an end, and they put guards looking at the radar; but nothing approaches the ship that night. Dawn came, and all were out looking at the city; the terrain was like a desert where they stand, and the view was superb,if somewhat dry... At noon, the Gorkon appeared; two of them, and when they were close, Kirk saluted then. -Hi, there ! You can came in peace!" A grunt was all the response. When facing each other, the Keeper said: -This is Lord Seir; Director of the Museum. He is here to see the fossils." -Please came in!"- Kirk invited, half smiling. Lord Seir was old, scant scaled; his eyes were darker in color, and the pace was slow.He said:"- You are daring humans, you know. This planet is forbidden for all of you!" -We are not from the Federation, but civilians."- Kirk informed him, but the Lord didn t reply to that... He saw the fossils, and begin asking questions, as from where they take the fossils, and if they knew of what kind of dinosaurs those fossils were. Kirk asked Moe about those details, and told the Lord the answers. The Lord seemed pleased, and asked for another fossil as a token; he said he will travel to the capital city, some 399 kilometers away, to talk with the Minister of Education, to see if they could rise the funds. -This is taking too long, Lord Seir; we are smugglers, and you certainly could make us all prisoners on this planet, and we hardly could ask for protection to our Starfleet, trespassers as we are."- Kirk said. -And what do you suggest I do? I had but little to offer you! We are a little Museum here !"- Lord Seir told him. -Perhaps gold of some gems will do!"- Kirk asked of him. -I have gold and jewels, from my family inheritance...I could offer you some thirty kilos of gold, and some jewels...if that is enough, this is a done deal!"- Lord Seir said, growling like a bear. Kirk told the rest how the offer was going, and the rest told them to accept... -We accept what you are offering us, Lord Seir. Bring the gold and the jewels as fast as you can."-Kirk asked of him. So they went out and returned to the city; at night, the Keeper arrives with three other Gorkons, saying:"- Here is the gold and the jewels, Captain! Lord Seir send his sons here, as he is an old Gorkon and he is unaccustomed to this long trips on foot." -Be my guests!"- Kirk said, standing in the twilight. Inside the ship, the gold was piled on a table; they were solid coins of the Gorkon Empire, and the face of the Emperor Sifid was there to testify the gold was sound and good... The jewels were several necklaces made of rubies and diamonds in brute, as the females of the Gorkon sees with bad eyes the worked stones... The Gorkons takes the crates, and departed. The Keeper said:"- Have lucky in your travels, Captain." -Thanks."- Kirk replied, and saw them go in the dark...He turn inside the ship, and said:"- First officer, takes us out of here!" Soon the "Walkiria" was in deep space, traveling at top speed to Earth. Inside, all the crew members were in deep sleep, as the trip was a long one: 39 parsecs in all... CHAPTER 6.- EARTH.year 2515 The ship "Walkiria" was docked at Base Santiago, over the city of the same name, down below in the south tip of the South America continent. Several other ships were docked there too, and the incoming and outgoing of lesser ships and scout-ships was amazing. Kirk and the others were seated at the Lounge Bar, sipping some "Tom Collins" and talking , waiting for the shuttle to be ready... -This side of the world has seen many changes, lately."- Jose Lopez said, looking down by the window. -Yes; there are many tales about that. Aliens and other people investing here; guess this people sell even their own mothers, to live in luxury."- Alfredonius said. -As in any part of the world."- Kirk said, sighing. -What are we doing here? We should be at Chicago spaceport !"- Arab said. -No way, man! There are logs who said this ship "Walkiria" belongs to another man, and also, could be that the police is already searching for it!"- Jose said.-Here in Chilean skies the police is searching for drug dealers, and the rest of the felonies goes unnoticed."- -Why so? All the felonies are the same :infringements to the Law."- Kirk asked. -"Because your country, the mighty Kingdom of United States, pays this little countries for the fighting against drugs!"- Jose explained. Soon they were called and they get into the Shuttle. In less than an hour, they were at one of the streets of Santiago. -Well, we can rent a house or go to some Hotel."- Alfredonius said. -There is no question about it ! I prefer a Hotel."- Maora Noemi said, hanging from an arm of Kirk. -Yes, but also in a rented house there are no problems with the police.At an hotel they ask for names and passports."- Alfredonius explained. -Then a house. But we need to search for one."- Kirk said, looking how the thousands of vehicles were passing by the roads- both at land and air. Alfredonius uses his wrist-PC and ,connected with the Superinternet, he finds lists with offers...soon he was stopping an air-taxi, and they departed in it to the address he chooses from several ones. The house was big, with food dispensers and all the luxuries a modern house has. -How much cost the monthly payment?"- He asked to the maid ,after seeing all the rooms with a keen eye. -29.999 credits a month. Two months in advance."-The maid said, twisting his hands. Alfredonius collected the money from his friends, and paid. The maid set the mechanism in function, and departed with a smile , as the money was already in her office s bank account... -Well, we can rest here , see the city and get bored for two months. "- Kirk said. -Three, if we used the last payment."- Alfredonius remembered. -Three. Well, Maora, we can go sight -seeing right away!"- Kirk said, and soon he was in an air-bus, looking at the city from the clouds. The bus went to other part of the city, some 40 kilometers away. The city was engulfed in a cloud of smog, so there were scant places where to put the eyes!The fumes were pouring from hundreds of different industries. -Guess this is a funnel opening! Too many industries!"- Maora said with profound distaste. They landed at "Isla de Maipo", a place where a river was winding up in its course to the Pacific Ocean; pure water, and the borders were full of flowers and sub aquatic plants. Insects were flying overhead. They paid their way into a Tourist place, where they could enter the river, using the bathing -suits the place provide. They also takes the "tea", or local custom at mid-afternoon: a tea cup and some biscuits or ,if preferred, a sandwich and sweets. The other tourists were Germans, with their big white heads and slow movements. -Guess we can be happy now. We have money, time to spent it, and a ship waiting over our heads."- Kirk said,looking at her. -And you."- Maora said, kissing him. -And you."- He said, smiling with tenderness. ...... At home, Alfredonius was using the PC, looking places and reading adds.There were lots of games and gambling too, so he spent a little amount, lost it , and went to sleep. Jose went to the street, takes a cab to downtown. There, he walked by the malls, looking all the new gadgets the shops were selling. He bought a cellular telephone, with screen to see who was talking at the other side. He called home, and talks with Moe m, who was eating at the kitchen. -Oh, at last fresh meat !"- Moe said, smiling. -Yes, at the ship all was canned."- Jose remembered. -Where are you? -At a mall place. Lots of things to buy.Pity our portion it s not as huge as we want."- Jose told him. -Yes, but we have here to spent a three months vacation. They said there is a sea somewhere." -I will go there to-morrow. I am feeling kind of dizzy."- Jose told him, and ends the conversation. He walks by a street, looking the bars. A girl of twenty takes him by the arm, saying:"- Hey, handsome! Want a little excitement?" -What kind of excitement?"- Jose asked her. -Me!"- Laughed the whore. Jose went to her quarters; a cheap room at a third class hotel, where the woman try all her tricks on him, leaving his body totally exhausted. -"Well , buddy, you own me 900 credits now!"- Said she. -Not in this life, woman! No more than thirty in my pockets!"- He complained. Soon he was at the street again, with the woman enraged with him... He takes a taxi and went home. -You look tired. Go to sleep."- Moe said, after opening the door for him. -Yeah."- Jose replied, and first of all, he takes a shower .Soon he was soundly asleep... --------------------- Morning at the other day, Robert Young and David Keller said, at breakfast time:"- We are going to the beach. Who want to come with us?" The rest was willing to go there, too, so they all asked for a mini-aerial- bus, and arranged the price , they went to the West. Some 120 kilometers from Santiago lies Santo Domingo, a place where some luxurious hotel and resorts offered good food and fine resting places; they take the "almuerzo" there ( a hearty meal: three plates, desert and coffee, plus the Chilean wines). After that, they went to the beach. The water was cool and quiet, and the sun was shining bright; in the distance, lots of seagulls were diving into the sea, to collect their meal:fishes like the " merluza", the "congrio" and several others. -Look! A crab sized my toe!"- Alfredonius laughed, and they all saw thousands of crabs, who were lurking around, trying to grab some other crustacean Soon they were lying on the sand, taking the sun-rays with delight. -What a life! Not a sound, also."- Kirk said, smiling to Maora. She was using a little bathing suit, transparent. -You look nice with that handkerchief." - He said to her. -The fashion, dear! What, are you going to be jealous of me ?"- She laughed delighted to be desired.... Some other women were taking their day there, and there were some really beautiful; the rest were old people wrapped in clothes and kids, yelling their lungs away, chasing dogs, waves, balls and the like. When sunset came, the driver called them, and they all return to Santiago, coughing as the smog was worst! -Guess we should had rented a house in the beach!"- Kirk complained to Alfredonius. -No problem, man! I will call the renter office, and perhaps we can swap places- Soon he was talking with the renting office principal manager; the guy accepted, plus a little fee,and they receive an address where to go at Santo Domingo, at the next day. The place was near the beach, with plenty of gardens around it. The clerk told them:"- You can have a splendid view from here ! Also, if desired, you can change of location any time ! There are several other places where to rest." Alfredonius paid the fee, and they were all smiling each other. -Yes, this place has air in it ! Santiago is a funnel !"- Kirk said, grabbing his woman by the wrist. -Too many people, too! They said half the population are thieves!"- Alfredonius said, laughing. -Hope here is not like that !"- Kirk expounded. -There is a lot of guards here! They protect tourism."- Moe said, signaling a couple of cops in flying-suits, who were patrolling the street from some 39 meters high... They went to the beach ; it was hot with the sun rays, but the water was icy. -Pity the polar current came here ."- Kirk said. -Yes; but we can go to a swimming pool ; there the water is warmed."- Moe said. Nobody wants that; they want nature under their feet, after so many years in deep space, so they rested there . Days begun to mount; sometimes one or another went to Santiago, for much better fun than to see the sea and the clouds ; but the smog made them came back after one or two days. Some romances begin, with people of the surroundings; but nothing to last. When the three months vacation came to an end, Kirk was paying the fuel for the "Walkiria" to begun other trip for all of them... -We can rent the ship , or we can stay here for ever."- He said. -No way! I am tired of too sand and waves !"- Maora yelled. They all smiled; they were eager to get out of the Earth... -Very well, I see in your faces you all want to depart. We can put some add saying we can carry people wherever. Are you O.K. with that?" They all said yes. -Then it s done! I will put now the add, and then will see."- Kirk said. Chapter 8. "A CLIENT ARRIVES." A client arrives asking to be carried to Delta Cangrejo- He was tall, and with a mustache. His suit was black, and his hands were white as his face. -I am Hules Landro, and I want to rent your ship"- The man said. -I am Kirk, the captain of the "Wilfredo".- ( The name was changed, for obvious reasons, but as every corner of the ship has a "W" engraved on it, the name "Wilfredo " was chosen.) -Well, I want to go to Delta Cangrejo. You know where it is ?"- The man said, looking at his shoes. -Yes, I know, but that is a long trip, and we must cross some uncharted sections of this galaxy. It will cost you a lot."- Kirk said. -Money it s not my problem Captain Kirk. I am leaving this planet for ever, so I intend to use all the money now- When could we depart?"- Said the man, standing on the hall. -I guess a month from now, Mister Hules. "- Kirk said.-"And you must provide me with the money ." -I see. How much do you need?" Kirk said a high price, and the man changes from his account to the one Kirk named, and then he said:"- Well, I must be prepared. I will carry six other persons, and a lot of cargo..." -The cargo must be delivered at the spaceport. "- Kirk said. Hules Landro depart and Kirk called all his friends. -There is a client, a trip and there is money!"- He told them. They all looked in amazement, and Alfredonius said:"- I wish you could pay us something ,to go and buy ourselves gadgets and clothes ! I guess this will be a happy trip!" Kirk asked for their E-Cards, and changes some money unto them. -The trip will begin in a month. Be here a week in advance."- He said. Maora Noemi said:"- I guess you are going to be very busy, so now we are going to a Restaurant, to celebrate first."- -By all means!"- Kirk said, smiling happily... Hules Landro arrives a day elapsed, and said:"- There are some trucks at the Spaceport, Captain Kirk. I want you to put all the cargo in the ship, as there are some valuables things in it." -"As you wish."- Kirk said, and they went to the Spaceport, where three big trucks were waiting. Kirk ask the drivers to carry all the load to the spaceship, and they worked all day long doing it. Kirk also bought three Electromen, second handed; they looked like women, and he called by their plate numbers: 2933, 3991 and 2902 The days passed, and then all personal were aboard, and the professor arrives with several people, saying:-- I will carry some more people, Captain Kirk.Also some Electromen of mine. I assume there will be no problem." -As you know, there is a certain amount of pods where to locate the crew to travel by the galaxy; years or months in deep freeze, and then there is nothing more than 20 pods." -I understand. Well, I will select the nine others."- Hules Landro said, looking worried. Half an hour later, the selected ones enters the shuttle, and the rest went out . - My elected ones are Deane Matzinger, Sheila Connor, Maud Baetz, Robert Ericks, Trich Luyen, Jack Farragat."- Hules Landro said, introducing them to Kirk. He saw that they were young and looking eager to depart Soon they were at the "Wilfredo" (Ex "Walkiria") and Maora with her team was ready to depart.... -All is ready, Captain."- Maora said. -Very well. You can leave the orbit."- Kirk ordered. The "Wilfredo " began accelerating, and soon the Earth and the Moon were mere specks in space. -Two hours more, and we are going to make the first Jump. All unnecessary personal please report to the pods."- Maora said by the loudspeakers. All the professor s personal went inside the pods, and soon they were all dreaming on electric sheep.... -I want to be one of the last to go under deep sleep."- Hules Landrosaid. -As you wish."- Kirk replied..... After a while, professor Hules Landrowas the only one - except Kirk- that was awoke. -It s amazing how a human being can be stored for future use, like a banana ."- Said the scientist. -Some bananas."- Kirk laughed. The professor went to a pod and soon he was asleep. Kirk revised all the systems and set the pod for half the time the others will sleep, in order to return to life and revise the systems again. The Jump was almost on top of him, so he has no time to go to the pod, and because of that, he seats at his usual chair, to see the fireworks. The lights became faint streaks of color; then they all were in the hyper space. Kirk saw that the figures were like big turrets, some of them translucid. But the hyper rejected them, and he was looking again at the normal stars once more. He punched some buttons, to know where they were...as planned, they were half the distance to Delta Cangrejo... A star was near them, and the sensors indicated four planets, nine moons, and that was all. -Guess this system must be visited once or twice, but now there is nobody there."- Kirk thought. Suddenly , a dark object came his way, from the near -by planetary system. It was a big planetoid ! The alarm bells begin to chime; Kirk accelerated the engines, but the radar screen shows him that they were not going to escape...Kirk punched the Jump again, this time with no calculation whatsoever. Again the queer colors, and then the return to normal space. Kirk scanned the sky; this time the computer told him he was near Beta Crux, in a desolated sector.The nearest sun was 399 light years away...excepting, of course, the Beta Crux sun! The scanner told him that Beta C had 39 planets, all of them of minor size, clustered near the sun. The engines were hot ; he went to the engine room and the temperature was 49 � Centigrade. Some coiling systems were in the brink of getting fire! He set the refrigeration system at full capacity; it was not possible to restart the engines in that situation... He went to see the pods; the steam inside the crystals shows him something was happening with the wiring. Kirk went to the hatch and , after dressing himself with a outer-space suit, he opened the door to the void. The temperature descended almost like a lightning, and Kirk went to see the systems again; the temperature of the engines and pods were down and out of danger. When he was walking to close the lock, the alarm sound begins. He returned to the pods and engine room, but there were nothing there in trouble. He went to the main deck, or control room, and find that a pair of objects were coming his way. He closed all electric apparatus on board, excepting the pods, and keep on looking. The objects were in due course to the far-away Beta C planetary system! He put the radio receiver on, and a loud signal was on ! There were several voices, but no way who- or both- of the incoming vessels were the radio -sources....... Soon they were mere specks on the starboard, and Kirk was thinking hard...he was accustomed to get involved in every fight he steps on, but this time the vessel he was commanding has no weaponry to match the powerful machines he saw just a couple of minutes ago..... -To do the difference...!!"- He told himself, and started the engines, and then he set the direction....Beta C!! CHAPTER 9 BETA C James Kirk was awakening all personnel aboard, except the Professor. Maora asked him why. -Because he is the paying -man here ! He is the boss! He paid for a trip to Delta Cangrejo, and I am head -on to Beta C and it s planets! - This seems to me rather harsh on him."- She said. The long -range radar shows both spaceships heading for 12th. planet, so there they arrived some two hours elapsed. -Heat down there. Seems one of them didn t make it; a fire was started."- Maora said, looking on his heat-scan. The planet has many scars on his terrain; also the sea was meager and pole- located. The fire was in the Ecuador. -A trip with the whole ship it s highly dangerous; we are going there in the auxiliary-ship."- Kirk told his crew. -Who are going to stay here?"- Maora asked. -Whoever wants. "- Kirk said. So he went with volunteers: Maora, Robert Young and Moe. The rest choose to remind in the "Wilfredo". They landed near the heat-source, but with a mountain in between. They begin walking by the forest. -This forest seems to me real queer."- Maora said. -Guess it s not as we are accustomed. It s made of silicium."- Kirk said. Suddenly, two big creatures appeared , and with glassy eyes and red mouths, stay in their path. -Silicium beasts! Real strange, but possible. "- Kirk said, and fired his pfizer... One of the creatures begin to burn, and the other escape; more than three meters in height, the burning being exploded ,sending debris in all directions. One splinter caught on the young Robert, and he lie very still on the floor of that planet. -He is dead. Guess it s not so clever to oppose this creatures with firing-arms."- Kirk said. They arrive to a place ,high on the mountain, that shows them all the lowlands...mostly burned, but in the distance, a bulk was showing. -There ! Must be there !"- Kirk said, signaling with one of his hands...... Chapter 10.- THE CHARRED SHIP. Three kilometers away, the charred ship was still pouring smoke. Kirk said:"- Radioactive scan, please."- -Normal radiation, Sir."- Maora said, looking at the gadgets. -Very well. Let s try to enter the remained."- Kirk ordered. They entered the ship by a hole on the hull.- "Seems the XBeams were in use." - Maora said. -You can beat on it !"- Moe ascertained. They went inside. The corridors were almost melted; soon they enter the main cabin, and there were six cadavers. -Corpses."- Kirk said, looking at the alien bodies. They resembled big grasshoppers. Maora looks on the consoles, blackened by the fire. She didn t recognize a single control...... -This is an alien ship."- Kirk said.-"Don t waste your time; the systems are totally different."- -You tell me !"- She laughed, but then she began to cough, as the air was with too much smoke in it...... They went out, and Kirk said:"- No sign of the other ship. " -Perhaps they went from here. This planets seems a barren land, at least for us , mammals."- Moe said. They were walking back to the shuttle. Kirk said: " I wish to know why this two were fighting each other. Who could be the natural enemy of those alien....grasshoppers, or whatever? " -Perhaps birdmen."- Moe suggested. -Big birds ? I don t thing so. As birds are remnants of dinosaurs, and dinosaurs loosed their opportunity of a better brain...Must be other thing." - Kirk said. They finished the climbing, and when they look down, they saw another -bigger- ship alongside the small shuttle...... -The enemy of the grasshoppers!"- Maora said, taking Kirk s left arm. They stayed there, thinking what to do. Kirk was not interested in the meeting of two races, as those down below seems to be a warrior-like especie.... -We are going to wait for the night."- Kirk told them. Soon it was dark, and the hill was in shadows, but not the ships; strong lights were illuminating the scene . Soon they saw the creatures in the light; their legs were funny, as the knee cap was in the opposite site, also the whole leg was facing to the rear, and they walk like in a nightmare.....for human eyes. -They stink!"- Maora said, spitting. -We have an open mind if we want to explore de Universe and make friends !"- Kirk said. -Oh, oh! Look who s talking !"- Maora said, laughing. They start walking ; they gave a round trip to their own ship, that was in the dark. - -Look! They have scanners all around the ship!"- Kirk signaled; there were several instruments around the whole place. -Guess we must go there or we are going to be a long time in this planet!"- Maora said. Kirk fired against several of the scanners, and they all run to the shuttle. The creatures were running out of their ship. -Fire against them !" -Kirk said, and he fired the Pfizer against the closest one, who fall down. Then it was pandemonium : the aliens began firing MASER rays, one of those hitting Moe, who went to the floor shaking horribly; soon he was falling apart. -Oh, what a sight!"- Maora said, fainting. Kirk takes her in his arms and enter the shuttle; there were no aliens inside, but the hitting of the rays shake the vehicle; he leave the body in the floor, closed the lock, and run for the controls. Soon the ship was in the air, and Kirk begin communicating with the "Wilfredo": They told him to keep on going, that they would do the rendezvous- act for him. Several minutes later, the big hull of the "Wilfredo " was in full sight. Kirk attached the shuttle to the starship, and then he crossed the corridor with Maora still fainted. -He fainted."- Said Kirk to the rest. -Where is Moe?"- Alfredonius asked -Dead; the aliens shoot him with a maser pistol."- Kirk informed. Alfredonius grew pale; he was fond of Moe. She takes Kirk to the Observation room, a tiny place with a screen looking out the stars. There she told him:"- Love, you must remember something! Last night happened something terrible---to both of us!" -Don t frighten me, please! I am terribly shy."- Kirk said, looking pale. -We are not in a common ship any more! We are...being used !"-Maora said. Kirk stared at the stars, and then asks:"- How, being used? I am not being used; I don t feel being used. Why did you say that? Are you O.K.?" -I am not O.K. and I don t know what to think, but I told you this: last night we were attacked by the people of the reversed legs, and now we are happily traveling to ..... as nothing happens! And Moe and Robert Young are dead !" Kirk stands up, and said:"- Now calm down, my Maora! You are not making much sense here ! " James Kirk summoned the doctor, Marcel Arab, who revised her and said:"- Guess she has being under too much pressure! I recommend her a long vacation." -Don t make me laugh, Arab! Where can I take a vacation, here in the middle of nowhere?"- She asked, standing from the couch. -Oh, this is our captain s problem!"- He smiled.-"I am only the doctor , here!" Kirk smiled too; the situation has his humor...but then he said:"- We have to gave a jump to arrive to....., so we better get hurry! Maora, go and calculate the Jump! " She went out, with a gesture of despair. -You must keep an eye on her, Captain! She can crack -up any time now!"- Arab said, offering him a "Pajaro Verde" (liquor made with chemicals). -No, thanks...and yes, I will have both eyes on her. "- Kirk replied. The orbit was set, and the jump takes a fraction of a minute, so they went out in front of Delta Cangrejo....., a thing that gave Alfredonius a great pleasure: he asked Kirk to awake Professor Landro. Soon he was walking by the main deck, looking the planetary system. -Oh, it s so beautiful ! We are going to land in planet Delta Cangrejo 1.... where a team is working for me.- Said he. -Since when?"- Maora was amazed. -About three years...please let s approach to the planet.- Hules Landrowas really interested in his work. Kirk accelerated the machine, and in half a day they were orbiting...., Delta Cangrejo 1 and Maora said:"- There! A metallic structure...must be your compound, Professor Jules Verne!" He located the place; there were seven continents in the planet, and the northern one was the correct one...He told Kirk so, and he replied:"- As you know, it s better to land with the shuttle. This spaceship uses too much energy when landing on a planet." -I don t need a spaceship there ! I can go in the shuttle; all my cargo must be delivered down there, too."- Hules Landrosaid. In the first trip ,the professor with his aids went down, and Kirk reminded on board; Maora was driving the shuttle . When Kirk saw the shuttle landing, he called Maora, saying:"- Guess you are in one piece." -Yes, darling! It s beautiful here ! Green grass, mountains and rivers. "- Said she, happily. -Soon the colonization will take this planet for further use. "- Professor Hules Landro told Kirk by the radio.-"I am here asserting the approval!"- Kirk went to sleep, after seeing all was in normal mode. Down below, Maora was looking some flowers. They were pink and blue, with a good smell. Professor Hules Landro was talking with seven Electromen, who was in use there ; they show the professor several films, of their several voyages in a scout ship. -There are several natural ports in this continent, Sir! We also found three more rivers."- Said Epredio, the chief in charge. -Good, Epredio! I will use you for further explorations. "- Professor Hules Landro said, smiling to the machine. The other six Electromen were working in the building; several machines gave food and warm air to the rooms , as the coldness was great in that part. The nightfall makes all humans went inside the building, where a nice temperature of 20 � Centigrade was set. -Look, Professor; we found several minerals in the mountains East of this place."- Epredio told him, and he shows the scientist several boxes with ore samples. -Good. Copper, silver and gold...Guess we can say it s a good place to live."- Said Professor Hules Landro . -The gold appeal to me!"- Arab told Maora, later . -The gold it s in a hill, and must be extracted with hard labor."- She replied, eating a dish with potatoes and eggs (ersatz). -I can work with my bare hands ! A piece of gold could make me a rich person, back on Earth!"- He said. -Tell the professor; perhaps he could lend you an Electromen."- She said, yawning. Arab went to the professor, and told him so; the scientist was not fond of greedy people, and he denied any help .Arab was enraged, and told him he want to go there by himself. -And you can leave me there in the scout ship! A Electromen could go and leave me there, with enough food."- Arab said. -Pardon me, Sir, but the expedition it s mine, and I see what is going to be donned here ! You must stay here, and no mineral expedition will be organized."- Hulls said. Arab was enraged, and gave a slap to the old man, and departed to see Maora; but she was asleep, so he went to his own bed, to pass the night plotting what to do..... CHAPTER 11.- Delta Cangrejo 1 In the morning, Maora called Kirk by the radio, and she said:" Good morning, starman! " -Hi, there! "- He smiled. -"Professor Hules is doing researches with plants and animals; Arab find that the Electromen knows where there is a gold mine, and he want to go there. But the professor don t want to use the expedition in that manner, and refused him an electroman as aid." -Bad thing, to have a greedy man ." - Kirk told her.-"Where is the mine?" -Don t tell me you want to go there !"- She was amazed. -No,it s just curiosity."- Kirk said. -I don t know for sure. But I can have the information for you." -Do it. I want to scan the hill with the instruments on board, just for the fun of it, as there is little to do up here."- So she asked of Epredio, who gave her a CD with all the inf.; she send it all to the "Wilfredo", and soon Kirk was looking at the hill with the special scanners on board...he saw streaks of gold and copper running alongside the hill, and deepening into the earth.... He called Maora, and then he said:"- I want to talk with Arab. Put him in the phone." Arab was eager to speak with him, as he said:"- Captain Kirk! I am totally convinced we all could return to Earth as the King Creso, with our arms covered with gold ! Gave me the tool, and I will dig for you!"- -Gold fever it s a disease lots of people had died for! Take care, man!"- Kirk said. -Gave me a ship to go there ! Maora Noemi could leave me there!"- He said. -I will see it . "- Kirk said; he too was feeling the urge for gold! To Maora he said:"- You are going to tell the professor you are returning here to be relieved; take Arab with you." -But...what are you going to do?"- She said, alarmed. -Just do what I say, please?"- She urged her. Four hours later, she locked unto the "Wilfredo", and with Arab he enters the main cabin, where Kirk was looking some charts... -Hi, darling !"- She told her, hugging the man. -Hi, Maora!"- He said, kissing her lightly; he saw Arab, and said:"- Well, man , you are going to tell me you could dig for us?" Arab promised all he could promise, but Kirk said:"- The gold it s not in the surface, because I saw the charts and it s 39 meters below surface, and went deep after that. We need machinery, people working there...Or we will never have a gold nugget!" Arab was disappointed in extreme...After some thinking, he said:"- Then we must take the Electromen ourselves, and use some of the professor s machinery! " Kirk said:"- I see difficult that professor Hules will say yes to me , after a no to you! The most probably thing it s I will be forbidding to help you in any way!" -Then take him prisoner! I can testify in your behalf, if you HAVE ANY inconvenience at our return!" - Arab said, eagerly. -All right, then! Maora, you stay here. I will go with Arab to that hill, and if we find something ,I ll call you."- He said. -But take care, darling!"- She said, with a nervous gesture. Kirk departed with Arab on the shuttle, and soon they were on the hill, looking for the gold. -Look! A golden nugget!"- Arab yelled, and Kirk saw something yellow and shining in his hand. -Must weight a quarter of a kilo!-"- Arab said, laughing. Kirk searched for more gold; he find a streak of gold in an rock embedded in the soil. -With proper tools, we can be rich!"- Arab said, laughing. -We can use the Electromen. "- Kirk said. -But the professor denied me them!" -No matter that ! They are mine; they are sleeping at the "Wilfredo", and at our return we are going to bring them here."- Kirk decided. -And what they are using for tools, and explosives?"- Arab asked. -We are going to dig a little, take more samples, and then we will see."- Kirk said, looking up. They return to the "Wilfredo", and Kirk shows the rocks to Maora. -Look what they found! Those are almost pure gold."- He told her. -And they are mine!"- Arab laughed. -No, if we are going to be partners, half this rocks are mine!"- Kirk said. Arab looked startled, but then he said:"- All right! Half are yours! But then, we must send the Electromen down there ! We need more gold, to convince our Bankers!" Kirk gave his part to Maora, who looked surprised... -Here! All this first draw it s yours, love!"- He told her. She was more willing to help, after that.... In the next trip , the three Electromen (or Electrowoman, for this case), worked for five days, and they also use explosives. Soon the gold was up in the "Wilfredo", and Kirk said:"- A ton of rocks! More than half of them are gold !" -"What are we going to do now? Professor Hules called every day and he said he soon is going to call for the shuttle!"- Maora Said. -"We must go to search for a buyer, first! Then we can came here and rescue the Professor! He will never accept us to depart to sell gold!"- Arab said, with disdain. -I also thing that it s the answer for our problem."- Maora said. -All right! We are going to depart to-day! First officer, set course for... the nearest big town in the sky!"- Kirk said. -Aye are, Sir"- She replied, smiling. CHAPTER 12.- THE SELLING OF THE GOLD SAMPLES, AND THE SELLING OPTION.... GOMEISA, CANIS MINOR, PLANET GOMEISA SEVEN. The planet was huge, but the temperature and gravitational field was mild and apt for us hominids to walk and be free. Captain Kirk and his crew of two arrived there, and descended in the shuttle for the nearest big city, Alraidon, population 239.000 people. -It s not as big as New York, but there is a lot of transactions going on here."- Kirk advised his crew. -As soon as we get rid of this samples, the better!"- Arab said, nervously. They went to downtown, and looking at the shops, soon they find a big store, where they ask for the manager. Fore Railson was the general manager; with one look he knew the trio was selling something..... -Please, take a seat! "- Said he, serving drinks- the mild wine of Gomeisa Seven. -Thanks you! The sand of the space goes to my throat!"- Arab said, laughing. -We are here to bargain with you, Mister Railson. We came from a distant planet, where there is a golden mine. "- Kirk said, going to the point head-on. -Oh. Very interesting."- Fore Railson said, taking no hurry in their drink. -We find a mine! But we have not the way to dig there ! It s needed a lot of machinery, gents and all that stuff!"- Arab said, signaling to Maora. She takes the bag, and begin to show five rocks one by one: the gold in them was exciting even for a fifty-six years old man like Fore Railson. -I ...can find some businessmen to do the bargain...perhaps me included... It s needed a lot of things: ships, machinery, and above all, permissions from the Central Government...All must be legal, you understand what I am saying?"- Fore said. He grabs a pair of rocks, sniffed them; yes! Pure native gold... After some more talking, Fore paid them for that samples, and then he said:"- Give me more time, gentlemen! Three days; and I will talk with investors..." ...... In the end,Fore was entitled by several other investors to go and see the mine, with a couple of mineralogists ! He said:"- We are going to pay the trip, Captain Kirk ! Then we will see if there is more gold in that place; if that is the case, I will came back, and told my associates. They will pay you what is just, or perhaps a payment and a share on the business. What do you say?"- Kirk talked with his friends: they all want to sell and be happy... -Well, Sir, we are going to show you the place, and this gentlemen will study the site....I need credits to start moving the machine! You must provide it, Sir, as we are in bad need."- Kirk said. -Of course ! We are going to pay the trip. "- Fore said, as he was already entitled to offer the necessary energy for that trip... ------- Once they were all in the planet Delta Cangrejo 1, Kirk went down with Fore and his two aids; they study the place for more than a week, and then Fore told Kirk:"- I am happy to say your place shows strong signs of to be a great depository of gold! " -Good, Mr. Fore. "- Said him..... -And we are ready to pay you! They were all a happy bunch! They return to the city of Gomeisa Seven......, where they signed the necessary papers... In a board meeting, Kirk and his crew were nominated to be the guards of the mining camp. -I accept! But also, we need a good payment!"- He said, and obtained it, they went with the first spaceship to Delta Cangrejo 7.......in order to begin the works... 293 miners went to work at the next day; in three weeks, 293 meters of tunnel were dig, and 29 kilos of pure gold were shipped to Gomeisa 7.- -At this pace, we are going to be as rich as Creso!"- Alfredonius said. -I am not interested in gold, but in a good ship! I will buy the best and newest of them all!"- Kirk told Noemi, who was already pregnant... -Yes, my love ! We are going to rise our child in a good ship! As an able son of a great commander!"- Said Noemi, smiling ..... CHAPTER 13.- THE PROFESSOR HULES MAROONED AT D CANGREJO 7- Professor Hules, David Keller, Jose Lopez, Wilfred Manfred, Betty Silvestre were astounded to see the radio keeps on being silent after three days of continuous calls. -Must have happened something ! They must be in troubles of some kind."- Jose told Professor Hules, who was at the radio.... -Most probably! The shuttle, perhaps, has some damage...too many trips up an down..."- -And the "Wilfredo" cannot came this way?"- Betty asked. -No, I guess the bulk it s too much to attempt a take off..."- The professor Hules replied.... They went to the outside, and it was dark. The stars were shining brightly, without the smog the big cities had, so all was clear to them...the light who was the "Wilfredo" was not above! -They are gone. "- David Keller said. -Must be that Arab! He was molesting me about a gold mine!"- Hules said. The rest was spellbound...-What gold mine?"- Asked Deane Matzinger. -One that was in some mountains...he was asking for some Electromen to be helping him there....I refused."- Hules said. Maud Baetz said:"- So they became greedy, takes samples, and departed ! Now they are going to sell the place to some or other company! And how much longer we could survive here, Professor?"- -Guess not much, if we keep playing to be archeologists!"- Trich Luyen said. The professor looked at her with disdain; others began expressing their thoughts, and at last, they went to bed in utter despair...... In the morning, the Professor was expecting everyone at the table, and he began saying there was no problem with the "Wilfredo"... -Surely they will came back, eventually. No more than a few days."_ But there were others that not supported that idea, and they begin saying they were not working any more in the excavations. -And what are you going to do? Build a spaceship?"- Hules asked, smiling disdainfully. They went out and stayed out all day; the professor went to the fossils site with the Electromachines, and with three persons: Jack Farragat, Jose Lopez and Robert Ericks; the rest went to hunt! As they have little experience, they lost their preys and also Robert Young fell from a cliff and broke his leg. They return to the building at night, with the moaning Robert Ericks on a stretcher made of branches... -Oh, oh! The explorers have an accident!"- Hules said, and examined the leg; soon he was trying to mend the bone, and after an hour, he said:"- There ! You must bond the leg now!" They were ashamed for the accident, but at the next day, the "Explorers" went out again, and this time they did catch some preys: three animals resembling a deer, captured with ropes made from lianas.... -Better than an arrow!"- Deane Matzinger said. They return to the compound; the professor was out . The injured Robert Young was feverish, with his leg fully swollen..... -This looks bad! I will call the professor right away!"- Sheila Connor said. When the professor saw the leg, he gets worried. -This looks like an infection! Perhaps some vein was clobbered , and this is asking for a more expertise man!"- He said. They release the cloth, and the leg was almost red... In the morning, Sheila awoke to see Robert Young dead........ The professor buried him in a place north of the building, saying a few words about friendship and being in a lonely place without help..... Eight days more, and the food at the building became nil. The professor stops the works at the fossil site, and sent the Electromen to hunt; they were better equipped, as they has xbeam pistols in their gear. Deer like beasts and some vegetables were soon cooked, and the smiles return to their faces. A week from that day, and they saw a light running over their heads- as the professor posted the Electromen to see the stars all night, searching for a spaceship. -Tell me what is that."- Hules asked to Epredio. The machine told him:"- It s the "Wilfredo"�! The professor was happy; his works will be soon re-commenced! But eight days after that episode passed without notice of Kirk or his crew! -The man went to the mine."- Sheila Connor said. -That s figures ! The gold fever are in them !"- Professor Hules said, with disdain. -We should go to the place ! Certainly, our Electromen could go there and do something !"- Deane Matzinger said... -How many kilometers from here to there ?"- Asked Jack Farragat. -Some nine kilometers; mountains."_ - The professor replied..... -"I ll go first. You can stay here."- Robert Ericks said. -"Count me in."- Jack Farragat uttered.... After filling a couple of bags with food, they went to the mine, with a compass guiding them. Professor Hules provided them with three Electromen; one who will go without stop to the mine, and the other two were to escort them there..... They marched for two days, and they saw Epredio looking at them, near some rocks. -Hey, Epredio! Did you see something?"- Jack Farragat asked. -Silence! They are near. "- Epredio said, and then he run to them, saying:"- They are here with machines ! Big drillers, and explosives. Soon the gold will fill their shuttles!"- -Good for them . - Robert Ericks said. They climb the rest of the hill, and looking down, they saw a ship landed near the entrance of the mine. Several machines were standing near, and lots of men were preparing the site for extraction of gold in great quantities..... -They are here with all they get ! Did you see some of our "friends"?"- Jack Farragat ask. -There are no companions in sight."- The Electromen called Evernon said. -O.K.; we are here, there is a ship....and there is too many of them to try to catch the shuttle ! Perhaps with the Electromen?" --We can outrun all human beings, but we cannot outrun a bullet."- Epredio said. -You are forgetting our main defect: the night. You can go there in the night, running like a rabbit, and they will be sleeping, most sure thing. You take them out, start the engines, came this way, and we enter the shuttle. Then we go to Base."- Robert Ericks said. -Good plot."- Jack Farragat said. -Could be. But we cannot kill humans,you bear that in mind."- Epredio said, looking at the couple of hominids. -Sure! You must take the shuttle, no killing !"- Jack said, smiling. -Three o clock in the morning will be good."- Epredio said. -All right. "- Jack smiled. Soon the night was on, and the humans slept; the others were looking at the mining base with unblinking eyes....... -No need to awoke this humans."- Epredio said.-"We are going to this alone. Our lives aren t of importance." -But costly."- Evernon said, all this conversation was made by radio. They run, and when at 100 meters from the shuttle, a whistle begin alerting everyone; the humans begin to look at the radar. Mistake! they should had went outside with machine-guns! As the Electromen went inside, takes them out and start the engines; in two minutes, the big machine was in the air! With all the shouting and ricocheting, both Jack Farragat and Robert Ericks awoke and run to the top of the hill, to see down below, but they saw also the big machine hovering above their heads, and the lock opening soon was at their reach. -Climb!"- Epredio said, taking Jack s arm. They went inside, and the ship went to the main camp.....where professor Hules received them with joy. -Welcome back! You made it ! Good for us!"- He said, embracing both humans. -Did you see Kirk? Or any of the traitors?"- asked Sheila Connor. -None of them! New people; and there were a lot of them!"- Farragat said. -------- -Someone came here last night and takes the shuttle with him!"- Rabur Derion told Kirk by the radio. -What! Are you crazy, man? And how are you communicating with me?" -By the portatil transmitter !"- Derion told the captain. Kirk heard the tale again, and said:"- O.K.! We have another ship, but it s smaller. " Then, Kirk went after the shuttle, but as Hules were asking for help in every channel available, a Federation spaceship arrives and send a luminous signal ,warning of it s presence to the chasing vessel- or to both of them. I received an encoded message from the Mine, saying this shuttle was robbed!"- Kirk states his point. Larseny grunted a little, and summoned the rest of both crew before him; one by one, and after have heard all of them, he arrives to a conclusion: what Hules and Kirk said , was the truth ! He summoned Hules into his chamber, and said:"- Very well, Sir, you are free to go wherever you want! But the Shuttle must be returned to the mining Company!" -That I see clearly, Commander. I ask of you to send us all to Earth. I have no funds, and all this expedition it s a failure."- Hules said. -So be it ! You can go to your quarters, professor."- Larseny O Ryan told the scientist. -"We have archeological samples in the planet, and also that I wish you to carry to our mother planet."- Hules asked. -That we�ll decide afterwards."- O Ryan replied. Then he ask for Kirk, and to him he said:"- I see no error in your behavior ,Captain! But to leave the professor and his staff marooned on this planet ,it seems to me cruel and unnecessary. But I am not the Police, and so you can return to your ship and went wherever !" -Thanks, Commander. Good bye!"- Kirk said, blushing furiously ,as he was of the same opinion - but Greediness was stronger than ethics.....in his case! Afterwards, and returned the Shuttle to their rightful owners, Commander O Ryan pick-up all the findings Professor Hules had on the planet D Cangrejo 7........ and departed with him (and cargo) to the planet Earth, where he gave an account of the events to the proper authorities... By his part, Captain James T. Kirk completes four years being the guardian of the Gold Mine. In those four years the increase of his - and the others- fortune was paramounting, so he retired from his post ,bought the last and most powerful of the spaceships available to private people; and seats before a handful of star maps, looking for the boundaries of the known universe. -Now we are going to explore!"- He told Maora Noemi. She was seated near him, with two recently born child (Nova and Star K. Noemi) and so she replied:"- I wish to live in planet Earth, to give a proper rise to both of our child!
